I'm getting scared....VERY scared

I'm not scared of THEM....the terrorists that have large swaths of Europe cowering tonight, and who want to see the same happen here.   No, I'm scared of US.

I admit it....my talent as a political prognosticator has (so far) failed miserably.  I said months ago the voters will have their little fling with Donald Trump, and then move on to a serious candidate.  And I also said there is no way Hillary Clinton will still be a contender come Democratic convention time next summer.  So far I'm 0 for 2.

I do like the way The Donald speaks his mind and doesn't worry about what is politically expedient.  And I like the way he is self-funding his campaign, and doesn't have to sell his soul to the highest (campaign contribution) bidder.  Other than that, WTH is wrong with that guy?  He says the most screwball things, and the voters stand solidly behind him and just lap it up!  I don't get it.

And it looks like Hillary has already won the Democratic nomination before the first primary.  She has more skeletons in her closet than a Halloween haunted house!  I don't get her, either.

I can look at all the candidates from both parties and see bits and pieces from each that I like, but not enough to make any one of them an attractive over-all candidate.  Still, The Donald and The Hillary seem firmly entrenched as front runners, and might be the two candidates to face each other this time next year vying to be the leader of the Free World.   *gulp*

AND THAT JUST SCARES THE HELL OUT OF ME!

  1. I'm not sure what makes a good president any more, but The Donald would certainly be the most fun.

    1. The same kind of fun Minnesota had when they elected Jesse Ventura. Both loons.

    2. Fun, yes, but we need a serious President to see us through some very serious times, not a Court Jester. Do you think The Donald could have handled the Cuban Missile Crisis? I don't. On economic matters, maybe yes.

    3. He seems to be pretty successful at a lot of stuff, if people think he is a clown or a loon they are seriously misjudging him. Mind you I am not endorsing him. I think he probably could have handled the Cuban Missile Crisis... do you think President Obama could or Hilary? Probably...maybe...who knows?

    4. Sadly, no Joe, I don't think The Donald could have handled the Cuban Missile Crisis. I have yet to hear him give a coherent speech. He just skips from thought to thought, topic to topic...."Oh...we're KILLING 'em! We're number one in the polls in Iowa, and New Hampshire...get him out of here, he's disgusting...Mexico will pay for a wall, and be happy to do it!..." But I think Obama and Hillary would have given waaaaay too much away in the negotiations..."Well, OK, you can keep the missiles, so long as you don't' aim them at us." Now compare any of them with the cool, eloquent and steely determination of, say, JFK or Ronald Reagan. Of course we'll never really know.

I admire much about Donald Trump. I think he's a brilliant, yet cold hearted, authoritarian CEO (most are) who yells "jump" and his employees ask "how high, sir?" That is acceptable within the brand he has built, but hardly appropriate or workable with Congress or other sovereign world states. (So, do you think this will knock me out of the running for the Ambassadorship to
      Switzerland? :)

    5. I think if Trump was president during that period in '62 we'd still be dealing with the radioactivity.

  2. I'd pick Trump over Cruz, who seems to be surging in the polls. Both men seem unequipped to handle the presidency. I've never followed a presidential campaign where the truth was sacrificed so much. Why doesn't the media hold these people accountable for all the lies, on both sides? There was a time when the truth mattered. These days news outlets are just entertainment. I miss Walter Cronkite.

  4. I think if Trump is nominated, or god forbid elected, it would show that the American voters don't care about a variety of things: 1. Integrity. 1a. Honesty. Trump has shown himself to be a liar over and over again during this current campaign. In fact, it's something he seems rather proud of, proclaiming that truth and facts don't matter. 2. Consistency. His views seem to change radically with every whim that enters his undersized mind. In dealing with the rest of the world this might make Putin look like a candidate for the Nobel. 4. Morals. He has none. His bloated ego seems to need none, instead he looks out for what's good for him. 5. Maturity. He strikes me as someone like our dear ms. Palin, when things don't go the way they want, they quit and walk away.
    In short, he's a childish, boorish asshole. I don't even think he's a benign one, I think he's malignant.
Perhaps next time I'll say what I really think.

    1. Politifact shows that Trump lies and misrepresents way more than he tells the truth. http://www.politifact.com/personalities/donald-trump/

  5. I think Hillary will coast her way into the presidency. And it's about time. A new poll says she would handle the terrorism threat better than any other candidate of either party.

  6. I'm still waiting for that moment when someone turns to you, grins, and says, "Just kidding!" And then you wake up and someone serious and smart and capable runs for office.

  8. Hillary vs. Donald is basically a moderate Republican vs. a nutjob Republican. Feel the Bern!

  9. Scares the hell out of me, too. Mostly it scares me because there is no way Trump can beat Clinton. He will top out at 27% of the popular vote, max. There are loads of Republicans who will never vote for him and I think you'd be hard-pressed to find even one Democrat who would. On the other hand, if he somehow could beat Clinton, that might be even scarier. I think we'd be involved ion a nuclear war within days of his taking office.
