All dressed up and no where to go...WITH UPDATE

Last Friday I received an automated phone call from my doctor reminding me of my upcoming appointment at 11:30 blah blah blah.  So this morning I got dressed, early even, and trooped to her office.  I signed in, where the receptionist told me as gently as she could that my appointment wasn't today, the 31st, but tomorrow, September 1st.

So I've been an old geezer for only a week now and this is what it's come to?  I've become calendar challenged?

What's next....will I get my suspenders* crossed and hike my pants up so high I talk like Tiny Tim?   Will I forget to zip up my fly?  Will my new waist height settle somewhere between my man mams and my belly button?

Will I soon have a shoe rack full of these ^ and a sock drawer containing every dark color you can imagine (Oooo....mid-calf-height!)  to compliment my new fashion status?

DOH!

I WANT A DO-OVER! *wink*

S

*I don't wear suspenders.  Yet.  ;)

UPDATE:  I went to the store to buy hamburger buns for the pull pork sandwiches I was serving up tonight.  I just noticed I bought hot dog buns by mistake.  Double DOH!  So ya think this is an age thing or a Monday thing?  ;)

  1. It sounds like you're distracted. Is something on your mind?

    1. Not really, Steve. My herniated back disc is acting up a bit....maybe that's it. Or maybe it's late onset attention deficit....oh look....a puppy! ;)

  2. Oh, I think both you and I know where this goes, eh? There you will be, in a recliner in a very nice group home, for the.....um, 'seniors'. Your family will be loosely gathered about the nicely furnished group home living room. They will be looking at you with bright, sunny smiles, the ones behind them will be nodding, shrugging, looking at their phones. An hour later a discrete chime will ring, your family will casually look at their watches or phones and smile brightly. "Well! Gotta go, dad/grandpa/etc". Then if it's Sunday, there will be mashed turkey and ore-ida tater tots for dinner!
I'm sorry, I wish I could say it's not true. If it's any consolation, I'll be in the room two over.

    1. I suppose that's just the natural progression of things. At least I'll have stimulating company a couple doors down. I'd like that. :)

Then we could regale my 20-years-younger wife with our tales of the "good 'ol days". Ha!

  3. You can blame age or your wife. I blame my wife, but she usually disagrees.

    1. Here's an idea: You could blame MY wife. You're probably far enough away (1000 mi?) you just might get away with it. ;)

  4. It's a Monday thing. It has to be, because I've shown up at my gyno's office a day early, too.

Though if you showed up the the gynecologist's office, I'd worry about you.

    1. On the other hand, that might be a good test to see if my pacemaker was working. ;)

I don't think the receptionist bought my story that I was just there early to get a good seat. Now I have to go face her again tomorrow.

  5. Not old age, sometimes days just go that way. I refer to them as " OFF Days ". I have learned not to fly or ride a bike on days like that. Hope your doc apt goes well tomorrow.

  6. I'm pretty sure it's a Monday thing - although with the appointment my dad says since he doesn't have to go to work he never knows what day it is (course, he's about 10 years older than you are - ha!).
