Life is too short to eat bland food

But did he miss the squirrel?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It was bound to happen.  After nearly 63 years, eating super-spicy foods has caused my digestive system to revolt.
I love jalapenos and Tabasco and all sorts of combinations of spices that give food a kick.  Life is just too short to eat bland food, but apparently I've worn out my esophagus lining.  Yesterday my doctor gave me a new pill for breakfast.  All I remember is it starts with Om___.  He said to go ahead and party on.   "Better living through chemistry!"
For a nation that professes to be "Christian", we're sure not showing any compassion for Paula Deen, are we?  She said she was sorry, that it happened a long time ago, and I haven't heard anyone come forward to say that's the way she talks or acts today.  So is she going to be an outcast the rest of her life?  Apparently peer pressure and political correctness trumps "forgiveness".
What to do?  There's a big car show tomorrow at the Frisco kickball stadium.  Who in their right mind plans a car show....outdoors.... for this time of year, in TEXAS?  From noon to 5 pm no less.  Didn't they get the memo about global warming?  (You know I'm gonna go anyway, right?  ;)
Have a great weekend everyone.  Stay cool.  ;)
Pinch me, this can't be real....
Today (Sunday) was about as perfect a day as I've ever seen. The temperature was in the 40's in the early morning, but didn't take long to shoot up into the low 70's. After online church we followed our usual Sunday routine...coffee and the newspaper at Starbucks...but then hit a wall as to what to do outside in the afternoon.
I did find an art fest (a small one) at a local retail/residential development (Watter's Crossing) not too far away in Allen, TX, so we gave it a shot. The best booth I saw was a woman selling funny little sayings along with her watercolor art. An example:
Other isms..."We will sell no wine before it's time. It's time."
"Men have feelings, too, but who cares."
While searching online for something to do, I ran across an announcement for the "All British & European Car Day" next Sunday. Guess where I'll be next Sunday? ;)
Which reminds me...I saw this beautifully restored little Triumph Spitfire in our neighborhood recently:
Now that's something maybe even I could afford. Or not.
It was "Espana" week at Central Market, so we bought a number of small things we plan on munching on tapas-style for dinner tonight. Sounds pretty good, huh?
That's all for our weekend. Hope y'all had a nice one, too.
Car show and more, w/ photos
Saturday morning I met my friend Neil at our monthly Cars and Coffee event. The organizers said attendance exceeded last month's 936 cars, so I was not disappointed. When I first got there I saw this late 50's Metropolitan, a little English-built tin can of a car. It had significance to me only because this is what I learned to drive in:
I'm usually not a big BMW fan, but several, including this immaculate 3.0 CSi caught my eye:
This mid 50's (?) Ford Skyliner with a retractable hardtop (fairly common today, but in a class by itself back then) was an interesting old dinosaur in attendance:
This 30's BMW roadster (I don't know why I was all of a sudden smitten with BMW's) was also a standout:
The oddest car there had to be this old junker 50's VeeDub Beetle:
See that barrel thing hanging out the driver's side window? That appeared to be some kind of venturi that would compress air, cool it, and blow it into the passenger compartment. Crude, but I guess it beat the usual 55/2 air conditioning of the day. (That would be '55' mph, '2' windows down.)
This 50's vintage Ferrari 375 was my personal favorite for the day. WOW!
After the car show I picked up K and we went to a local art fest. I'll share photos of that some other time.
We finished the day in our neighborhood listening to a really good local group as they played on the street. It was quite a day. :)
