Life is too short to eat bland food

But did he miss the squirrel?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It was bound to happen.  After nearly 63 years, eating super-spicy foods has caused my digestive system to revolt.
I love jalapenos and Tabasco and all sorts of combinations of spices that give food a kick.  Life is just too short to eat bland food, but apparently I've worn out my esophagus lining.  Yesterday my doctor gave me a new pill for breakfast.  All I remember is it starts with Om___.  He said to go ahead and party on.   "Better living through chemistry!"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

For a nation that professes to be "Christian", we're sure not showing any compassion for Paula Deen, are we?  She said she was sorry, that it happened a long time ago, and I haven't heard anyone come forward to say that's the way she talks or acts today.  So is she going to be an outcast the rest of her life?  Apparently peer pressure and political correctness trumps "forgiveness".

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
What to do?  There's a big car show tomorrow at the Frisco kickball stadium.  Who in their right mind plans a car show....outdoors.... for this time of year, in TEXAS?  From noon to 5 pm no less.  Didn't they get the memo about global warming?  (You know I'm gonna go anyway, right?  ;)
Have a great weekend everyone.  Stay cool.  ;)
  1. Omperazole (Prilosec is the over the counter brand) sucks. I had better results with Prevacid. Though not even those work all the time, especially if you aren't smart about what you eat.
    1. Doc said the OTC versions are watered down...10 MG. My Rx is 40 MG. We'll see.
  2. My rant tomorrow is on the PD use of the "n-word" be careful, I might actually spell out that nasty word so all readers will need to pull up their big boy pants!
    Enjoy the car show, you are a glutton for punishment!
  3. Well, that IS the $64,000 question... is Paula displaying a pattern of discrimination or was it "a world ago", as she puts it. The lawsuit will no doubt drive out what's going on, if something is going on.
  4. Yeah I'm pretty disgusted at the jump on Paula deal. I don't know all the facts (although I am pretty disgusted with what I've heard) - & if it really was a world ago then I remember that world too. I guess I'll wait & see. I kind of wish everyone else would too!
    Well you'd better darn well wear your hat tomorrow if you go to that car show!
  5. We Americans love to build people up and place them on pedestals so we can knock them down. But we are a forgiving people and I do think Paula will make a comeback. I'm not a Paula Deen fan but I think it unfair to persecute someone for being honest. And why don't people wait until after the trial to judge her?
  6. The way I understand it: there is currently a lawsuit going on about how blacks were treated in her company. We should wait to judge her until the truth comes to light. We shouldn't really judge her about what she said years and years ago - but what she did or didn't do in response to complaints by employees about racism and sexual harrassment NOW.
    As far as the car show goes...remember to bathe in suncreen, wear your hat, and bring your camera!
  7. I really don't know anything about the Paula Deen situation. I don't know who she is, so when it blew up in the news I just skipped right over it.
  8. If Paula Deen WERE honest, it might be easier to forgive her. But she continued to push her high calorie, high fat, full of butter food for two or three years after she learned she had diabetes. Then when one of sons opened a "healthy food" restaurant, she signed a contract with a company pushing a diabetes drug and told her viewers about her disease! I call that a bit more than disingenuous. Now this new scandal about her language and a lawsuit alleging much worse language and conduct by her and her overweight offspring. Too much!
  9. I agree with those of you who have said we don't have all the facts yet. Let her have her day in court and see what her attitude and language is today. If her critics are right, THEN let them drop her like a load of hot potatoes. But right now we don't know all the facts, and I feel that jumping on her now is totally unfair. Shame on Home Depot, Walmart, Sears, and all the rest who have already thrown her under the bus.
  11. Find my one person on the planet over the age of 5 that hasn't judged another on their color, age, race, religion, political party, type of coffee they drink, the color of their shoes, etc*
    *Jesus is the only one.
    Not saying what she did was right ... I am saying that love conquers hate
