Best special effects EVER!!!!

Last night K and I watched the old "B" movie Twister. Just as the huge, evil F-5 tornado was barrelling down on our heroes, throwing around cars and cows like they were mere toys (mainly because they were mere toys), our neighborhood tornado sirens went off. For real.

Turns out our city now sounds the sirens when the National Weather Service issues even so much as a severe thunderstorm warning. It's no longer just for tornado warnings, so it turned out to be a big non-event. Some lightning, some rain, some wind....that was it.

Still, the timing almost made that old movie a "B+" movie. Almost.

  1. would you believe I watched that old movie "Earthquake"(the one with the boom boxes in the theater).... of all places in a theater in LA!! When things started wiggling, you couldn't tell if it was the movie or the real thing! I'll never forget that.

  2. I haven't heard those warnings since we once did those "Air Raid" drills back in the days of Viet Nam. Those damn things went off once a month. Crazy.

    Still no Air Raid!!!

  3. we used to run around like crazy, getting our clothes on and all the emergency supplies preparing for the worst. now we just look out the window, while in our underwear and turn the news on to see what's up.

  4. Twister is a great movie! Can there be a better line than, "Cows. We have cows."
