My weekend wardrobe....a heavy parka and shorts. No, really.

But no snow.  It's like getting a kiss from your sister.  So far this winter we've had a helluva ice storm, but no snow.  If we don't get some in the next 30 days I'm afraid we'll miss out completely.  :(

Imagine this:  It's 15 degrees today and it's expected to be in the mid-70's for a high on Sunday.  Sheesh!  That's Texas weather for you.  On a more personal level, it takes me longer to get suited up to take the dog out than it takes him to find a spot and take care of his business when he gets there.

We had a little excitement in the neighborhood last night.  I heard multiple sirens and looked out to see the fire department turn into the Cisco office park right across the street.  When I walked to the window to see what all the commotion was I saw this:

A car in their parking lot caught fire.  I called K to come look, and as we watched it exploded!  The FD had already checked it and then apparently pulled back, just waiting for the KABOOM!  Then they snuffed out what was left and moved on.  Just another day at the office for Frisco's Finest.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So Super Bowl Sunday is rapidly approaching and now they're saying that if another killer snow storm develops the NFL might move the game to Saturday or even to a weekday the following week.  I'm thinking Green Bay Packer fans are laughing their asses off right now.  :)
What the hell was the NFL thinking when they awarded the Super Bowl to an open stadium in a northern state to be played in the dead of winter?   In this day and age of domed stadiums everywhere....DUH!
Have a great weekend everyone.
  1. I (and everyone I have talked to) am rooting for just enough snow to play the game but still cover the yard markers. Football in the snow...LOVE IT!! watching that is.
    1. I've watched many a game in the cold and even some snow, too. And remember when they played in the rain and in THE MUD? And they all got so dirty you couldn't tell one team from the other? This artificial turf is just too sanitary methinks.
  2. If you want snow we're about to set the record for our snowiest January. Huzzah.
    1. I don't want to deprive you of breaking your reord, Pat, but I wouldn't mind borrowing a couple of for a few days. :)
  3. The states can have all the snow they want or not. This has been a dry year for snow in or neck of the woods in Germany.
    1. I don't want New England amounts of snow, just 4 or 5 inches for a few days. Then it can go back to Texas normal. I think the whole world's weather is a crap shoot these days. :)
  4. Imagine how long it takes to suit up when it's only 1 degree outside..... The reason I am not so sure I really want to go to the Super Bowl.
    I am sort of jealous of your office parking lot excitement. Occasionally we get a deer fight in the parking lot, but sadly no explosions.
    1. Oh, I dunno Mitch. I wouldn't mind watching a couple of bucks fighting over a doe in the parking lot. Neither exploding cars or deer fights are something I see every day, you know? :)
  5. The difference between our current zero weather and 'normal' is that this cold spell is forecast to last for weeks. Big difference dealing with it every day without a break to having an occasional couple of days where it gets this cold. It is EXPENSIVE supporting those A-rabs.
    1. Just a reminder, Fin: They don't have weeks-long zero weather in Dixie. *wink*
  6. That exploding vehicle would have scared me...thoughts of suicide bombers would have crossed my mind!
    1. I don't worry much about suicide bombers in Frisco, TX. They would mess up their designer duds, something most style conscious (which leaves me out) Frisco-ites would never think of doing. ;)
  7. The NFL does what they can to add credence to the talk about them being the league of brain damage. I guess league management leads by example. What I most like about the NFL is that they do not play basketball
    1. Hey John! Enjoyed our short visit when you were passing through Dallas. Hope we can someday visit longer over an adult beverage, maybe. ;)
      You're right about the NFL. Sometimes I think that dane bramage goes all the way up to and includes upper management.
  8. I just keep reminding myself that summer will come along eventually & then I'll complain about the heat.
