"Warm" is a relative term

This morning when I took Luke the Wonder Dog out for his first foray of the day to check on his kingdom I noticed our friends from North Dakota State University are back in town again to play for the NCAA FCS (one notch below the FBS) National Football Championship.

The Thundering Herd

They play Towson tomorrow at Frisco's Toyota Stadium for the Grand Prize.  They've been here for the past two years and won both times.  I'd call that a dynasty!  And they have one helluva following, too....5,000+ of their fans travel from North Dakota to root them on.  The team and many of their fans are staying right next door to our apartment community.

I'm thinking their coach must have the world's best incentive to get his team to give 100% all season:  Play well and they can leave this....

....and spend January in Texas basking in this....

Yeah, I know.  "Warm" is a relative term.

No offense Towson, but since the NDSU fans have invited us to their (outdoor) pep rally and pool party* tonight and you haven't, all I can say is, GO BISON!

Now where did I put my Hawaiian print parka?

* Hey....it could happen.  :)

  1. Argh, I think it's colder than North Dakota here! I was thinking I should go shop for a remote starter this weekend so I don't have to spend all winter freezing my junk to go to warm up the car.

    1. I think the big storm has moved east towards you and on into the east coast. And a remote starter? HELL yes!

  4. Today in Portland, Oregon, it's 42 degrees without a cloud in the sky. Pretty here but cold. Still, nothing to complain about considering what the rest of the country is experiencing.

    1. 42 I can deal with. It's those single digit temps that drive me inside.

  7. repeat from my FB account:

North Dakota State University is in town (Frisco)...they got a championship game tomorrow ...now I have been to ND...I have lived near their home town of Fargo....believe when I tell it's a flat frozen hell hole of a place and we must look like Disney Land or some kind of Utopia with two story malls and such

it's snarky isn't it.....I am sure there are some nice ppl somewhere up there. I just never met any. I wintered over there Fertile, MN and Fargo, ND many years back....Dec to April. I have been all over the world....Korea, Japan, Okinawa, Jamaica*, Puerto Rico, Virginia, California....I have met all kinds of different people....and those from Fertile to Fargo are some of the most unfriendly people I have come across.

I would pass them on the street say hi as I crossed paths .... they look down.

Ok....I'll try the "nod" .... they even ignore the "nod"

If someone told me I had to move to MN or ND or have my limbs amputated.....well - just get me a fancy voice activated wheel chair and soup it up a bit with some flames.

    1. Awww, come on now. I been talking to some of these North Dakota State University fans in town for the big football game and I find them to be pretty nice. My guess is, when you were up there, it was too cold for them to smile or nod for fear a body part might freeze and break off.
